Reporter: “Why are you waiting to take executive action on the border?” Biden: “Because we need more forces on the border, I don’t have the authority to do that.” Biden took 94 executive actions in his first 100 days to decimate border security — and has all the authority he needs to reverse course and end the border crisis. On Biden’s inaugural day, he signed executive orders that incentivize illegal immigration: • Paused Deportations • Suspended “Remain in Mexico” • Stopped Border Wall Construction Since these policy changes, over 8 million people have illegally entered the country, with millions more slipping past border patrol undetected.
Elon Musk: The massive flood of illegal immigration is due to 94 executive actions by the Biden administration. Until those executive actions are revoked, claims by Biden that he wants to address illegal immigration are a bold-faced lie. Tweet (see clip below he commented on)
Members of Congress and some well-known people who share conservative views have been criticizing the Biden administration for using the term “newcomers” instead of “illegal immigrants.” They think this is just a new way to soften the language about people who enter the country without following the legal process.
The White House sent out information supporting a new border plan that President Biden likes, which includes spending $1.4 billion to help cities and states that help these “newcomers.” But, the official Republican account on social media platform X didn’t like this wording, saying it shows President Biden isn’t taking illegal immigration seriously and is creating a big problem on purpose.
This criticism spread quickly online, with various public figures joining in. For example, former college swimmer and advocate for women’s sports, Riley Gaines, said our country is being intentionally harmed by its leaders. Lisa Boothe, a media personality, also commented that changing the language from “illegal immigrants” to “newcomers” is an attempt to make illegal entry into the country seem okay.
Some members of Congress also shared their thoughts. Rep. Byron Donalds pointed out that the law uses specific terms like “illegal alien” to describe someone who enters the U.S. without permission. Rep. Keith Self questioned how welcoming more “newcomers” could lead to harm for Americans. Rep. Cammack’s office and Rep. Robert Aderholt criticized the administration’s approach to border security, with Aderholt mentioning concerns about lawbreakers and potential terrorists entering the country.

Chad Wolf, a former acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said the administration isn’t taking the situation seriously and that Americans want real solutions, not just fancy words.
Since President Biden started his term, he’s been working to change many of the strict immigration rules set by the previous administration. This includes plans to allow more refugees into the U.S., protect immigrants who came here as kids from deportation, and not use the “public charge” rule that could deny green cards to immigrants who might need public assistance. Biden also wants to increase the number of visas given to immigrants and has proposed a big immigration plan that would offer a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants already living in the U.S., make changes to how family-based immigration works, update visa rules for jobs, and increase diversity visas. This is a big shift from the previous administration’s efforts to limit legal immigration.
